Kathuma
Medical Dispensary
Mission:
Kathuma currently has no medical facilities with the closest being in a village at the bottom of the mountain. Many times a child will become sick and the frantic parents have to carry the child down the mountain to receive medical attention. Sadly, there are many stories of children dying on the way down the mountain. This dispensary is the first step towards getting a desperately needed medical clinic for this area. Plans include using local labor to pour a concrete floor, build brick walls, install a metal roof and purchase a lockable cabinet where the medicines will be kept. The room will be added onto an existing building which is large enough to house a full medical clinic in the future.
Overseer:
We worked directly with Peter Masua, Sr. Pastor of Jordan River Ministries, located in Nairobi, to oversee this project. Pastor Masua is originally from the Kathuma area.
Timeline:
Construction began February 2006 and was completed January 2007.
